Here's the progress shot of Leah's painting in progress. I like the energy of this piece.
I've included a shot of a reflection in a canal and a quick photoshopped idea of how the reflection might work with the breakwater and the trees above. I narrowed the rocks so they and the reflection of both rocks and the trees will fit in the canvas. You can see that those would be reflected before we see the reflections of the trees above because they are closer to the waterline. Notice that the reflection is typically not quite as sharp and shows us the conditions of the water. I've pushed the distortion of the reflection a little, lightened the image and lessened the contrast a bit. I'm not sure what you were thinking about the background in this early stage so I just knocked in a light sky color. I wouldn't take that as the definitive color. Use the color from your photo reference/scrap. It will be helpful to send me the photo you're working from along with the image of the painting your doing.
What a surprise to see my photo. Yes, I was intending to narrow the stone wall. I like the illustration of how to handle the reflection; very helpful. I'll have to arrange a time with Marilyn to get my painting and paints. As soon as I get my hands on it again, I can send an update. Thank you very much. Leah
